Desert Saints

Just in case you haven't seen it, there is a great article about the Las Vegas Extreme Home in this month's edition of the Desert Saints Magazine. With so many Mormons working on the job, people tend to notice!

I Missed My Anniversary!

Both of them! My wedding anniversary was March 15th and it was spent in a hot VIP tent cheering on my husband as he did plumbing things on the Extreme Home Makeover house. I was going to make a sign that said, "It my anniversary with the plumber. Can I have a kiss from Ty instead?" But Ty wasn't there that day, so the chance of that happening lessened just a bit.

But tonight I just realized I missed my one year anniversary of my blog. I started it April 8th, 2008! It has been so much fun! I've enjoyed writing about our experiences as a family, and all of my random thoughts. I have no idea how many times I changed the style of my blog! I've vented a bit, or a lot. Its been amazing how many people have placed their little dot on my world map, U.S., Japan, Korea, Ireland, Thailand, Canada, just to name a few. Here a just a few of my favorite moments. Thanks for reading about my little family! Here's to another great year in the real world and the blogging world!

I'm just too tired to blog...

That's just sad. I'm too tired to sit on my fat behind and move only my fingers on the keyboard and my eyeballs.

Gobble Gobble?

No I don't have my holidays mixed up. Byron just got his turkey. The pictures aren't perfect, but gives you an idea.I hope this truck doesn't come home like this.

Easter Celebration

As you can see, Wyatt went for a very photogenic pose for our family Easter picture. Other than that, it was a perfect day.

  • A visit from the Easter Bunny leaving a trail of chocolate eggs leading to the Easter basket
  • church with Jeri, Byron's mom
  • And Easter Egg hunt with eggs containing pennies, nickels, dimes, and a few quarters for the "higgy bank"
  • grilled lamb chops, grilled pineapple, green beans in lemon butter, grilled garlic bread, salad with beets, roasted pecans, and blue cheese with a balsamic mustard vinaigrette, carrot cake
  • a leisurely afternoon napping in bed
  • light ham dinner with Sommer's parents, grandmother, and friends
  • Another Easter egg hunt at Grammy's house

It was a calm happy day. I hope your was as well!

Finally, a crafty weekend!

I feel like I can breathe again! Stress, illness, just not feeling well in my skin. I've had it, and I'm thrilled to say I was able to do some spring cleaning and find some time to do things I enjoy! Believe it or not, organizing is one of those things I enjoy. I get a high from throwing things away that have no more purpose in my life. The owners at the school I used to teach at dreaded when I got into one of "those moods" because I'd want to throw away everything and anything that had sat on a shelf longer than a semester in our teacher's lounge. I'd beg and plead with Jhonna and Glenda..."Please no one uses this box of materials or this ripped nasty poster! Let me put it on the dumpster!!!!! PAAAALEASE!!!!!!" I'd get giddy when they'd sigh and glumly say, "OK."
Sadly, life has been so hectic lately that I allowed the mess to go well past some simple organizing sessions. I've only chipped the tip of the iceberg, but it felt so good to purge and reorganize my crafting area. I threw out a couple of bags and a box full of stuff that I don't use anymore, or is just past its prime! The study itself (which is the home of my crafting area) still needs some work. Boxes seem to reproduce like bunnies under Byron's unused drafting table. I'll deal with that perhaps later this week.
Byron was a big help this weekend. All Friday morning he had Wyatt, and with Wyatt's notorious super long naps that he takes, I practically had all day Friday to purge and organize. Saturday was the same deal, Wyatt had a sleepover with his Gramma Jeri in Henderson, and by the time he came home, it was nap time. I was a busy, busy bee!

So how did I reward myself for all this hard work? DVD movie making, Birthday card making, an ACTUAL SCRAPBOOK PAGE of a picture that honestly, I have no idea when it was taken. It was fabulous! The DVD is for my dad's birthday this Monday. It is of our trip to Disneyland, the birthday card is obviously for him too. (Its a good thing Dad has no idea what a blog is, let alone read mine!) Here are some pictures of the projects that made me happy this weekend!

WOW!

OK, you have to be a major scrapbooker to even appreciate this post. Rhonna Farrer from House of 3 designs just left a comment on my blog! It might as well been left by Jennifer Aniston or Janet Jackson, 'cause that's how cool that is to me! I entered a quick little give away through House of 3 and I'm sure they left a comment on everyone else's page, but still, I'm honored! So cool!
