Still Crafty Just In Case You Care!

If you don't no biggie. But since you're here, check out my mini-album I just made in honor of Wyatt's love of trains. It is an accordion chipboard book I found at Creative Escape in Arizona. I really enjoyed making it, I'm sure Wyatt will hang on to it his entire childhood (mostly out of devotion and obligation to his precious mother) and then his future wife will say, "What? No you can't take that with you to our place, its ugly!" Not that I EVER said that to Byron! (Please say that last statement with heavy sarcasm.)

Getting Crafty

I can feel it! That inner obnoxious craftiness is screaming to get out! I had some Christmas cards of friends that I didn't want to throw away, so I just cut them up into pieces! Ha! I made puzzles of our friends for Wyatt. Just glued the cards to chipboard, and cut them at funny angles. I store them in ziploc bags. So whenever Wyatt wants to see his friends, he can just get out a puzzle!

Toddler Bowling League

I'm a little late (as usual) with this post. Our Mommy Preschool took a field trip to the Texas Station (only in Vegas would you take a group of 3 year olds to a casino) to go bowling. It cost a buck a kid, and since their feet were too small for shoes, no shoe rental! It is so fun to be sooo cheap! The best thing about having little ones, is that a simple little outing makes you a rock star! These cute kids had so much fun!

Yes, Wyatt was the loser, but see how he was the gentleman and let all the ladies go first! He's a lover, not a fighter!

To All My Cashman and Bonanza Girls

This post is just for Kirsten, Amy, Kristin, and Katie,

I ran into Marci Baty at the craft store today! She looked great and her younger son who was with her was adorable! I told her about our blogs so hopefully she'll visit soon. Then we'll just need her to get her own blog!

Hooray for Me!

Thanks for the inspiration, Kristin! My friend Ginger and I had a great time making these banners! I'm not only thrilled about how it came out, I'm really happy just to have spent a late night crafting, laughing, and eating chocolate dipped strawberries! Check out Ginger's version at Hearts-n-Hugs.

Some Home Court Advantage

What was that? UNLV vs. BYU in Provo last night? What did you say? BYU LOST? But I thought all you die hard BYU fans would be there cheering your team along. And it still didn't help? What a shame! Yeah right! Go Rebels!

Big Boy Bed...finally!

I've already been chastised by certain friends (eh hem, Leydsmans) that my son is way too old to be in a crib. But would believe, Wyatt never tried to climb out, and having that one little bit of control in my life brought me peace? But all good things must come to an end, so here is my sweet baby growing up to be a big boy in is big boy bed. Sniffle, sniffle.

Why Am I Even Here?

So my 2 1/2 year old son just completely undressed from his pajamas and overnight pullups, went potty, and picked out his underwear from his drawer. Having such a smart son makes me feel unneeded (and a little liberated!).

What I Thought I Would be Doing by Now

I created these expectation, goals, resolutions, whatever, when I quit my job in May. I am sad to say that none of them have come to pass, or stuck around enough to become a habit.

  • Spending mornings teaching my son
  • Playing with my son more
  • Having play dates with Wyatt's friends, and making better friends with the moms
  • Finding joy, time, and desire to have a clean, orderly home
  • Being a better friend to my husband
  • Spending Wyatt's nap time crafting and being creative for myself and my family
  • Having a simplified schedule in my life
  • Taking my dogs on longer walks (more exercise for them and me!)
  • Seeing my family more, especially my grandmother
  • Taking care of myself (exercise, regular haircuts, pedicures)

In my more personal blog, http://www.sommersjourney.blogspot.com/, I just had a little pity party since I was feeling down on myself, and I think it had something to do with the fact that my life isn't even close to what I wanted it to be. I'm sharing these goals with you, because I'm hoping you'll help keep me in check. I need to be held accountable or I'll never accomplish what I want. I did great in college because I had deadlines and a professor to report to. Unfortunately, reporting to myself, just hasn't been working out. Help me! Please!

What in the world????!!!????

Meet our new pet, Hawkeye. Isn't he just so cuddly and cute? He likes to leave us trails of feathers in our yard and has cute little birdie play things. There's an adorable dead pigeon in my tree right now! Just precious!

A Rebellious Saint

Ok, this post may really upset some people, both family and friends... are you ready... you might have to sit down for this one... I cannot stand BYU. I'm sorry, I know. All you truly devoted Mormons are probably down on your knees begging that the lightening that hits me may be swift and merciful. I love it when a BYU team loses, I don't care who played them, just as long as they lose. And I'm not really that into sports. But even some BYU grads must admit that they think they are better than everyone else. Come on, fess up! You think that you are going to be translated because you went to BYU, found your eternal companion in some first semester religion class and got married three days later. Your wedding reception consisted of a receiving line from 6:30 to 8:45 PM, there was only cookies, red punch, and a jello salad to eat, and you were in your hotel room at the nearby Holiday Inn by 9:15 pm. Why my loathing? I guess it started when a so called friend of my mother asked how she could let her only child attend Satan's college. Well guess what? This alumni of Satan's college is living the Mormon American dream and I didn't even apply to good ol' BYU. So with this said, I need your help. Next month we have tickets to the UNLV-BYU basketball game and I want to make a shirt. I want to put on a phrase that encompasses who I am, A Rebel Saint, something obnoxious but not (too) offensive. So help me out guys. Leave your comments. What kind of message can I send to those oh so perfect Saints at the game?

The Merriest Christmas

Despite all the Bah Humbug posts I've written this holiday season, I am happy to say that our Christmas of 2008 has probably been my happiest since I have been married. The actual days of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were wonderful and I wouldn't have traded them for anything! Christmas Eve was spent in my grandmother's beautiful new home. I haven't seen her this happy and relaxed in years! Christmas morning Wyatt opened each present carefully and played with each one before moving on to the next present. That afternoon was spent playing Wii with Byron's brother John, along with Peter and his mother, Pam. And I pulled off a pretty good Cornish Game Hen supper, if I do say so myself! Here are some of my favorite pictures. Enjoy!
