KB Plumbing: Plumber to the Stars

OK, so Byron just called me and very casually said, "Yeah, I gotta go do some work for The Killers." What???? Clearly not a big deal, but Byron's putting in a pedestal sink in the rock band, The Killers', new recording studio, who is supposed to recording TODAY. My husband's a plumbing rock star. I'm so proud!

Happy Memorial Day!

We had a great weekend. Go visit the Bellagio! The atrium is all about TRAINS! It was like they built it just for Wyatt! Four to five miniature trains went travelling through the lush plants. Hot air balloons floated above our heads. Fountains danced to music between braided sections of moss. It was so magical! Wyatt could have spent all day there, and I'm sure we'll be back.

After a nice long nap, we headed over to our friends, the Dennetts, to enjoy some tasty hamburgers, pasta salad, and Klondike bars. We fiddled around with our cameras and learned that Ginger's camera has the scary feature of turning one Byron into three! The picture below is from Ginger's blog. I even came somewhat close to winning "Liar's Dice," which, like most games, I am terrible at. It was a pleasant weekend. I loved all the little outings with family and friends we had this weekend. Lots of perfect little moments, with a couple of good naps in between!

Summer's coming and we're already having fun!

A great weekend, plain and simple

This weekend I experienced a first in 2 years; an entire night, 16 hours in fact, without Wyatt. Byron and Wyatt attended our church's father and son camp out. I was surprised and thrilled that Byron wanted to take on the task of camping with Wyatt for the first time. We had no idea how Wyatt would do, and yet Byron just wanted to spend some time with his son. I knew then that spending time together was an important thing. They had a great time. Wyatt and Byron slept in the back of the truck. When Wyatt woke up, he raised his head and at that moment realized that he actually slept outside all night long. Slowly a huge smile grew on his face and he turned and looked at Byron in amazement.

So what did I do on my very first night of complete freedom, you may ask? Such bliss. Item number one, pedicure! Imagine me sitting in a massaging chair with the rollers positioned right on my shoulder blades, my feet soaking in warm bubbly water as a talented Asian women scrubs, kneads, and smacks (that's right) my feet and calves, and the final blissful treat, dark chocolate and raspberry chocolate truffles only for me, melting slowly in my mouth. After my 45 minutes of utter relaxation, I jetted off to Chili's for a take out order of an ice cold IBC root beer and a Caribbean grilled chicken salad with extra dressing. I then proceeded to plant myself on the couch for dinner and a movie ("Pride," excellent movie, read the post before this). My next final moments consisted of 2 Advil PMs, a bath as hot as I could stand it, and a darkened room. Ah sleep, lovely sleep. I slept in to 8 AM, the garage door opened at 8:15 AM. Welcome home boys!

A Sucker for the Underdog

I have discovered that I am a sucker for any movie that involves an inspirational story about a teacher or a coach. "Gridiron Gang," "Man Without A Face," "Remember the Titans" just to name a few. I just saw and loved another one! "Pride" starry Terrance Howard and Bernie Mac. Rent this movie today! So good, with lots of happy, uplifting moments that outnumber the sad ones.

Is there anybody out there?

I was just thinking about how crazy this whole blog thing is. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I've become obsessed. I will be the first to admit, I love looking at all the hard work I put into them (and I do mean them, I have 3 right now. www.slimnsom.blogspot.com, www.ourdadchris.blogspot.com, and www.christoffersennews.blogspot.com). And I'm even a bit obsessed with looking at my friends' blogs. I get all excited when they post new pictures or update their playlist. Which by the way, I listen to your playlists while I work. I got the idea from Ginger. I think it helps me get to know a little more about you. While looking at other people's blogs, it hit me, how many people have looked at my blog, but never left a comment, so that I really have no idea who you are? So now is the time! Fess up people. If you're reading this, your assignment is to leave me a comment, whether you've left one before or not. I want to know who you are! No more hiding behind your computers.

It Feels Good to Do Nothing

Well, we have finally been able to slow down as a family. The funeral for Byron's father was Friday, which was a wonderful and emotional day. Byron and I started the day with prayer asking Heavenly Father to help make this day a day of supporting each other (the whole family). He answered our prayers. Saturday was equally as busy as Byron and Wyatt joined his family for an all day hike through Red Rock while I taught a 6 hour teacher training at work. I was very nervous, though I've done these trainings before. I guess I just wasn't feeling confident about the topic. I asked by to give me a blessing, and along with several silent prayers, Heavenly Father blessed me with a successful training. We spent the evening visiting with family members. Today was filled with church meetings, conducting music during sacrament AND welcoming everyone to Relief Society. Finally, this day came to a close and we were able to rest and be in our home. I've spent several wasteful hours working on blogs, videos, and photos from the weekend. It feels so good to do "nothing."
