Let Freedom Ring!

Fourth of July in good ol' Parawon is just nothing but a lot of fun! There's the obvious traditions we always have as a family...the parade, the ice cream cones at Dairy Freeze, how much candy can Wyatt get, watching the fireworks from the backyard...lounging in the swing chairs...all good stuff. But what I love most about Independance Day in the Iron County Seat are the random things that I see or hear or experience.

  • I watched a man riding a horse through town, hooked up to an oxygen tank (the man, not the horse)

  • I almost made it out of the Cedar City Walmart without seeing a polygamist family...almost.

  • I quickly discovered that if you give a group of Mormon adults plastic 4th of July hats from the 99 cent store, they will spontaneously start to giggle and then act drunk.

  • I would like to thank Station Casinos and all of you who bought illegal fireworks to set off in the Las Vegas Valley. As we drove into town Sunday night, the Las Vegas skyline glittered more than I have ever seen it before. It was incredible.

  • And the weekend just wouldn't be complete without a list of KBisms, notable quotes that only my father, KB could get away with saying. Here are just some samples:

    • Me: "Does a workout at higher elevation count as 2 workouts, since its twice as hard?" KB: "No, you only have half as much oxygen, so it only counts as half a workout." Not cool, KB, not cool.

KB screeched his 4 wheeler to a stop and yelled, "See the Gila Monster?" That would be a horny toad, KB. But I could see how you could mix up the two!

KB: "I can't have a Harley, cause I'd have to have an ugly wife on the back!"

Hope you all had a great Fourth of July!
